Lily Loves to Swim

Our sweet puppy Lily has discovered swimming. We adopted Lily this past summer. Well because of the aweful drought we have had almost no water in our pond. With the rain we got over the past couple of weeks we now have a full pond again. We decided to see what Lily thought and I think we got our answer!

Homemade Donuts Anyone?

Thanks to my new love of Pinterest I decided to try to make homemade donuts. I found this really easy recipe.
You need canned biscuits (anything BUT the flakey layer kind).
Melted butter in a shallow bowl(4 tbls per 8 biscuits give or take)
Sugar & Cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Mixed together in your favorite proportions.

Veggie oil to fill your pan up to about 1/2in or so.
Heat up oil for a few minutes on medium heat.
While it is heating up, cut holes in the donuts with a cookie cutter or some other circular object (stars would be cute too!)

When one side is golden brown, flip with tongs. When that side is golden remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined pan or plate.
When the donuts have cooled enough to handle...using your fingers dip one side in the melted butter, let the excess drip off, dip in cinnamon and sugar mixture. Get it nice and coated. Flip over and repeat for the other side.

Sounds and looks YUMMY right?

Well I taught is they turned out great. Here is what the rest of my crew taught...

Well you win some and you lose some back to the drawing board.

Happy New Year!!

I know, I know, I know!! I have said it many times before but, I am going to get back to blogging. I LOVE blogs. I spend lots of my free time in the evenings after the girls are in bed and the house is quiet reading blogs. I have decided to dedicate some of that time to my long neglected blog. I think before there would be things I wanted to blog about but didn't have a cute picture to go with it or I would have a really cute picture and not much to say about it. I have since come to the conclusion that who really cares. This is suppose to be a fun and easy to put my memories and have something fun for our family to look back on. So It will not always be perfect but I am going to give it another go.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
WE DID!!!

I'M BACK

Well here we go. I have been wanting to get back to my blog for a long long time now. So much has happened. Our girls are getting so big Abby is 2 now and is wearing big girls panties and sleeping in a big girl bed. Emily is now 6 and in a few short weeks she will be out of kindergarten and officially a 1st grader. She has a slow start and a bit of a struggle this year. She has really started taking off now. She is reading everything she can get her hands on and writing notes , telling time , and doing math non stop. We are so proud of her. We found out right at the beginning of the year that Bill was a diabetic. It was shocking and scary. I am so happy to say that he is doing great! He did not take the news lightly. He completely changed his life around. He lost 65lbs and is eating right and exercising. He is on his way to being off the medicine. He will always be a diabetic but he will live a very long and healthy life if he keeps up his new way of living. Me well I have doing my best to eat right and exercise too. I have lost 35lbs since January. I have a long way to go but I am pretty proud of myself. I have done so many diets and started so many exercise routines in the past only to give up. Well this time I am sticking with it. I am 21 days in to a promise I made to myself. I promised that I would get on the treadmill everyday for 25 days (I heard or reads somewhere that if you so something for 25 days in a row it will become a habit?) I know that it is pretty sad but this is the first time in my life that I have stuck to this kind of commitment. There has been many days that I did not want to do it and tried to let myself off the hook. I must say that it has really become a habit that I am really liking. I plan to stick with it . I will keep you posted on my progress.
It has been so long since I posted on here there is no way I could go back. I will just start from here and maybe go back a little and hit the high points from this past year,
Today was a Great day. We went to church and heard a really good message about how God wants us to have a humble heart (something I think everyone can work on now and then). On the way home we decided to load up bikes and a picnic lunch and go to the park. The weather was great and we had a really nice time. Here are some pics from our day.

NO TEARS FOR ME!

She thinks the backpack on one shoulder is cool ;)

I did it! I put Emily on the bus this morning and I did not tear up. I am pretty proud of myself. Emily is loving school. She comes home each day with a smile on her face and lots to tell us. She is excited to go to bed she she can get up and get dressed in the morning.
I went to K information last night. We got some not so great news. The K at our school is to big. All the classes are too full. They are going to have to make a new class with a new teacher. Our teacher told us that 4 are going out of her class. I really really like Emily's teacher. She has been doing it for a long time and said she would not want to teach anything else. I would think it takes a special person to love K. So they will let us know on Friday if Emily is one that will be moved. I am sure she will be fine either way. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that she gets to stay put.

EMILY'S FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

Our big girl Emily went to her first day of school today. She was so excited she woke up early ready to get dressed. She was a little disappointed when I told her she has about an hour until it was time. She passed the time with a little Disney channel while I made her special requested breakfast of pancakes and sausage with chocolate milk. She wanted to ride the bus to school which for me was out of the question! So she settled for riding the bus home. She did great! Bill and I walked her into her class she but her lunch box in the basket, hung her new backpack on the back of her chair and was ready for business. I felt the tears coming so I gave her a quick kiss and said goodbye. A few tears fell as I walked out the door. Bill gave her a kiss and a few words of encouragement. She was already fast at work coloring her Welcome to Kindergarten bear. Bill then gave me a few words of encouragement and he was off to work. I made a quick stop to turn in a form with the PTA. I held it together until I made it to the car and had a little cry. It seened like the longest day ever. I went out to wait for the bus and I waited and waited and waited. I was on the phone with the bus barn and here comes the bus down the street (30 mins late). The door opened and there she was all smiles! She said to me do you know that I get to go to school everyday! Too Cute.
One funny story- I asked her if she made some new friends and she said yes and that one was a boy. She said I told him something. What did you tell him I asked. I love you she said. OMG I will not be surprised at all when a note comes home about my sweet baby girl driving those poor boys crazy LOL.
